The 2020 Election Polls Were Dead On - Republicans Cheated

 Many people have jumped to the conclusion that the 2020 election polls were way off the mark. The polls prior to the election showed Biden with an average of an 8 to 10 point lead.  When the actual vote count came in (81 million Biden, 74 million Trump) Biden had won the popular vote by 4.5%.   The truth is that the polls were correct and show how effective the massive and multi-pronged Republican voter suppression effort was.  Republicans prevented millions of votes for Joe Biden from being cast, counted, or delivered by a Post Office they handcuffed.

Republicans passed several dozen laws to make it more difficult to vote.  Voter ID is one of those ways.  Many Democratic leaning black and low income voters don't have a car or a driver's license and so have no photo ID.  Getting it can be difficult, especially given that many older black people don't have a birth certificate.  Getting the photo ID can require many trips to government offices with long waits in line on different days.  Taking public transportation to  various appointments on various days is a challenge, particularly for poor working people who can't afford to take large amounts of time off to get the documents they need to get the photo ID.  To make this even harder Republicans have closed DMVs in Democratic leaning areas to make the trips to get photo ID farther away with longer waits in line.

Republicans did massive illegal robocall campaigns to black neighbourhoods, telling them falsely they'd be arrested for outstanding warrants when the went to vote and would be vaccinated against their will.  They robocalled six million homes to try and scare them into staying home over concerned of getting infected with the coronavirus.  They threatened voters  that on voting day there would be armed "poll watchers" challenging their right to vote, baselessly telling voters they didn't have the right and could be sent to jail.  They put up billboards in poor black neighbourhoods advertising severe penalties for voter fraud, knowing that black people are suspicious of the authorities and afraid they'll be falsely imprisoned or fined so they are scared off from voting even though they have the legal right to.  They drastically cut the numbers of polling stations in Democratic leaning neighbourhoods to create huge line-ups lasting 8-12 hours.  In some cases they moved the only remaining polling place far away from the population it was to serve, sometimes even to places public transportation doesn't serve to make it almost impossible for poor black people to vote.  They also cut down on the number of early voting days,  the ability to register to vote.

Republicans have purged voter rolls in Democratic leaning neighbourhoods which results in people who thought they were registered to vote being unable to.  They've smeared and destroyed Democratic organizations that helped people register and vote.  They destroyed the Post Offices ability to deliver ballots on time by removing 6500 sorting machines and countless mail boxes in Democratic leaning urban areas.  In Texas the governor absurdly limited drop boxes to one per county, giving 1 drop box to counties with a few hundred voters and one drop box to an urban county with over 4 million voters that lean Democratic to make it impossible for any more than a fraction of the people wanting to drop of their ballot being able to do so.  They banned employees from putting in overtime to get out the mail and required mail trucks to leave partially full to further delay the mail.  They changed the handling of mail in ballots from first class to third class which allows the Post Office to throw them out if they aren't delivered right away. The Post Master was ordered to undo these changes but that was only partially accomplished.  Then the Republican controlled Post Office refused to do a final sweep of their facilities to get remaining mail in ballots (heavily favouring Democrats) delivered before election day.

And I've only skimmed the surface of the Republican voter suppression and intimidation efforts - this was an all out attack on American democracy.

Now since election day they are fighting to throw out legal ballots and prevent them from being counted. 

No, the polls weren't off,  the closeness of the count in some states is proof that Republicans prevented untold millions of votes for Joe Biden from being cast,  counted, or delivered.  The public rejected Trump's presidency on a massive scale.  Regardless of what the official "count" ends up being, American voters preferred Joe Biden by 8 to 10  percentage points over Trump.

A Zygote or a Fetus Is Not a Person

Many anti-choice people will insist that a pregnancy at any stage is a "person" or "human".  This is manifestly untrue.  Let's take a zygote, for example.   When we think of what a person is we think of certain features, abilities, and characteristics.  A person can move, think,  feel pain, feel pleasurable sensations,  eat,  laugh,  love, hate,  and  make plans for the future (even if the future is only the next few seconds).  By that universally accepted standard a zygote is in no way a person - it can do none of that, it is capable of nothing we think of a person being able to do.  Now I hear some of you angrily insisting a zygote is human and I'll grant you that it's human in the same sense that one of my fingernail clippings is human - it originates from a human,  it is of a human, it is human matter, but it is NOT a human being, it is NOT a person.  A zygote merits no more consideration than a mosquito biting you does,  the destruction of a zygote
